How has the Patriot Act effected you, and why?

I hear a lot of complaining about the Patriot Act so I'd like to know how it has effected each person individually. As far as I can tell, I haven't been effected and don't see what the big deal is. So, for those of you that have been effected please share your story so we, who are indifferent about it, can perhaps change our mind.

Thanks,
KMAN

OK. When Neteller was asked why they started requiring SS nunbers for all accounts they said it was to comply with the PATRIOT Act.

I'd say that effects a lot of us here.

This is what, the third or fourth time, bare minimum, that you have asked this question?

You seem opposed to the so-called "War on Drugs." Has it directly effected you? If not, why are you opposed to it?

Are you pro-choice or so-called "pro-life?" How can you have a stance on this issue, since it does not directly effect you?

D2bets - Have you been hurt financially or in any other way from providing this information?

Phaedrus - I keep asking this question because I am trying to find out how it is hurting people but I haven't gotten any answers yet. I am opposed to drugs because I have seen the effects that it has on kids. I know people who have been kicked out of school or have had children kicked out of school because of their drug use and the result is that these people don't have an education and besides the fact that they are ruining their own lives, I'm sure some of my tax money goes to providing for these jobless drug addicts. I am pro-life because I don't believe that murder is a good thing.

Banned4Life - I'm not sure what you are asking but nobody has to wear a seat belt. However if you choose not to you may get a ticket. I choose to because I am interested in saving my life from other drivers who might be on pot.

KMAN,
People have been hurt financially ...
Go ask Citibank how many wires are unnecessarily delayed for weeks at a time thanks to the PATRIOT ACT.

Time is money.

Smoking pot does not affect a person's ability to drive.

Yes, I have been hurt because I don't like having to give it out unnecessarily. It causes pain and suffering.

Similarly, those who are opposed to the Patriot Act believe that its provisions are wrong.

Lander - As usual you're incapable of giving a straight answer to a simple question. Here is KMan's statement/question:

"So, for those of you that have been effected please share your story so we, who are indifferent about it, can perhaps change our mind."

Your response did not come close to addressing his point. I didn't see anything in your post that described something that happened to you. But what else is new.

D2Bets - "Yes, I have been hurt because I don't like having to give it out unnecessarily. It causes pain and suffering."

Terrorist attacks which kill thousands of people cause pain and suffering. Giving out your social security number to Neteller does not cause pain and suffering, unless there is something very wrong with you.

While Lander's post does not address the question raised, he raises an interesting point, namely delays in sending money. His argument is that time is money.

Somehow, though, I don't think he would be whining if it were called a "security tax" on the rich, who are likely the majority of people sending large sums of money.

Lander - Is that really why you are against the Patriot Act " because wire transfers are late" come on....... you have been crying for months about this and that's the best you can do!!!!!

Banned4 Life - I didn't know that.

D2bets - It sounds like you have more problems than just that then......

Igetp2s - Isn't this incredible.....You hear the Libs on this board bithcing about the Patriot Act everyday and the best we get is because they don't like to give out their SSN...

Fuktard,
I answered KMan's simple question of, "have you been hurt financially or in any other way from providing this information?"

Your incomprehensiion seems to boil down to the same problem each and every day - you seem incapable of reading a thread in it's entirety.

Either you simply do not have the time or more likely you suffer from ADD, as many children do. Regardless of the cause the solution should clearly be for you to STFU until you actually know what's the adults are talking about.

Scat along now.

Kman,
No that is not at all while I am against the PATRIOT ACT, but you implied that nobody suffers financially as if that were more important then the raping of basic liberty .. not only does it deprive American's of liberty, but it also effects your insane value of human life - finance.

I'd like to flip the question. Does anyone know of any good that it has done and if so, what?

Exactly what I would say. Authorities in their actions have probably scared the population a lot more than they would have if they didn't push all these stupid things. The Feds always have this move in their back pocket too "We are making progress on the war on terrorism, but for intelligence reasons we can't tell you what those are." WTF??? You expect to take our liberties, slow down international commerce, humiliate many foreigners just for where they were born, and kill off a good deal of tourism and its very beneficial economics for some unnamed successes??? Please tell me there is more to it that this? The Patriot Act didn't lead us to Saddam Hussein, please tell me when it will lead to something tangible because like about 100 million other Americans my patience is running very thin on this.

Lander - I never said that this wasn't hurting anyone financially. I just want to know how this has effected those of you here at the Prescription.....So far all I have heard is that it sucks to have to give Neteller your SSN and it deprives you of basic liberties.....well what liberties??????

Could it be that those effected by the Patriot Act are being illegaily held and detained and thus might have a difficult time posting here? Nobody effected by it speaks out because they've been denied free speech or a trial.
